About the talk: As we all know Kong Gateway is a widely used API Gateway which has enormous plugin support for various functionality. Still, there may be a requirement specific to a customer or business case which existing Kong Plugin may not support. In this talk we will be providing some tips of custom plugin development in Kong Gateway and also show some plugins developed by us and how it is helping us in our business usecase. About the talk: Kong 3.x introduces OpenTelemetry support for deeper insights of the performance of the API Gateway at various levels. In this talk, we will explore the OpenTelemetry integration with Kong and particularly telemetry of Kong plugins. We will explore various scenarios with performance impacted Kong plugins and go over troubleshooting troublesome Kong plugins with OpenTelemetry. By attending this talk, participants will gain valuable insights into troubleshooting Kong plugins effectively, equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to overcome challenges and optimize the performance of their Kong plugin in the 3.x series.
